Radio Dead Air was started in July 2000 by Nash Bozard as an in-character radio program for a Live Action Role Playing Game. Since then it has blossomed into a regular fandom radio show where advocates of Sci-Fi, fantasy, horror, gaming, comedy and great music can get together on IRC chat and tune in to a one-of-a-kind Webcast.
Live broadcasts happen every Monday night 9pm to 2am EST through Live365 with live IRC chat through Darkmyst in #radiodeadair. Streaming music broadcasts are on the rest of the week. The play schedule and how to listen can be found at Tune In.
More of RDA's legacy can be found at History. Past RDA guests, broadcast recordings, and chat transcripts can be found on the Celebrity Spotlightpage. Fan art and guest pictures are on the Picture Gallerypage. The Dragon*Con pages contain audio interviews and pictures from those events. Buy Stufflinks to the RDA store through 99dogs.com where your purchases help go to pay for this web site and the regular RDA broadcast.

Okay kids . . . first, let's start with an apology.
My roommate was in charge of taking care of the cable bill. He was already behind for last month, and intended to get this month's bill taken care of upon arriving back from Dragon*Con. Unfortunately, he was in a car accident on the way back. He's fine, aside from some bruises and bumps (and amazingly smashing his head through a window with no ill effects; apparently, Dragon*Con hats are somehow indestructable). However, he was out of town in a Macon hospital, and out of work for that same period. Long story short, bill got missed and service was turned off until today. So that's why this didn't get posted before now. Here's a sincere apology to everyone who was waiting for this report.
There's mroe tales of woe involved here; I'm going to have to offer a sincere apology to Dean Haglund, Pete Abrams and Robert Picardo. You see, on the trip back from Atlanta, I decided to begin transfering files from my MP3 recorder to my laptop. All was going well as I was driving along, until I began to smell smoke. I look over to see weird blue-green flame fickering ever so gently out of the back of the MP3 recorder. Hastily, I knocked it to the floor and dumped half a can of Monster on it. Upon examination, I discovered the battery to be bulging and discolored. The good news here is that most of the interviews transfered; however, I lost most of Dean's interview and all of Pete Abrams and Robert Picardo's interviews. This is going to leave me especially in the doghouse with Pete, as this is the second year running I've had techincal difficulties with his interview. I'm going to email the man and beg him for a do-over with a phone interview, but there can't be any promises there as he's really busy between the comic and his newborn. I also feel bad about this because of how Dean bent over backwards for us at the convention, but we'll get into that later.
So, first off, for those who want to skip the report and get straight to all the wonderful interviews, I'll set the links above the cut. Right click on them and choose "Save As" to listen. In no particular order:
I would be remiss if I didn't thank the following people profusely:
Star Roberts, as well as Charlene and Dorie from Dragon*Con Media Relations: The folks make it all possible, and helped us out with our work so much I don't even know where to begin. If not for them, we wouldn't get to do this every year. They're as awesome and supportive as people get, and from the bottom of our hearts here at RDA: THANK YOU!
Jared Bentley and Jason: These two gents worked as assistants and helped coordinate things in the Walk of Fame. If not for Jason, we wouldn't have gotten a hand here and there, and if not for Jared in particular, you wouldn't have the fantastic Michael Hogan interview available. Every little bit helps us. Thanks to both of you and everyone else on the team with you.
Kathryn Branton: Wow, this girl is a hard worker. Without her, we'd have no pictures and we'd also have an exploded Nash. I'd like to add she did all her work while a hurricane was looming over her hometown. I don't know how she kept it together enough to keep me sane and on track for the convention, but she did. Couldn't have done it without her, period.
Glas: This tells you how tired I was today: I completely forgot to thank Glas for running around on feet that underwent recent surgery and still got interviews for me at the con. Sorry man, and thank you.
And finally, one last time:
Dean Haglund, for being a friend to us, for going above and beyond the call of duty for any guest at any of these events, for stepping in to provide an unforgetable moment in two people's lives: you, sir, are a prince and a gentleman. For myself and my listeners, a humble and heartfelt thanks.

System's buggered. The PCMCIA sound card's not working, and without that there's no way to do RDA from the laptop. We've tried everything, with no luck.
I'm sorry, kids. I seem to be cursed when it comes to on-site broadcasts. Monday will go as scheduled, and we have a lot coming for you. Stay tuned.
Well, here we are at Dragon*Con! Things are off to a good start; already we've confirmed speaking with Red Dwarf's Robert Llewellyn, the folks behind The Venture Bros, Jennie Breeden from The Devil's Panties and Pete Abrams of Sluggy. Forgive the lack of links for the moment as I'm PDA blogging, but they'll be forthcoming.
We're also on track for the live show tomorrow at 9pm, so keep an eye out here for more info.
Quick moment of zen: as we were driving in from Savannah, we noticed that about a ten mile stretch of 75 had no oncoming traffic. The reason for this was quickly discovered to be a subcompact in the middle of the highway, merrily ON FIRE.
So whatever happens this weekend, however stressful it gets, my car is not on fire.
The run on Dragon*Con has become probably the best and worst weekend of my whole year. It goes beyond love/hate. It's work and preparation on the level of a job unto itself.
The gear has to be checked. The research done. Whatever interviews I have access to, I have to contact them in advance and be sure they're cool with chatting. Vehicle maintenance. Coordinating with my on-site crew. Dammit, where did that freaking XLR MIT-156 go? Get not one but two episodes of Crosswire ready. Invent new curse words. Make sure I've got as much as I can done at work before I'm gone. Fuck, who canceled? Get started on packing. Scream at vehicle when maintenance costs more than anticipated. Miss two phone call from agents. Invent new curse words. Call agents back, get voicemail. Scream at MP3 recorder for using AAA batteries when everything else uses AA. Buy batteries. What the fuck do you mean, "Word 2007 cannot load?" Reinstall Office 2007. Choke down as much vitamin C as I can in anticipation of the ungodly con plague that awaits me. Wait, Alan Tudyk's going to be there now? Shit! Do more research. Hit up my contacts for leads. Scream at laptop for somehow eating my collection of on-air bumps needed for remote broadcasting. Take half a bottle of Excederin. Go to bathroom. Miss an agent calling me back; call, get voicemail. Budget gas for trip. Realize you're already over budget. Invent new curse words. Realize you forgot go call Pam about updating the web site. Buy a new XLR MIT-156, then just in case a second one to prevent a repeat of last year's infamous "dead mic" calamity. Stock up on cigarettes and rip fuel. Swallow half the bottle of rip fuel. Post current Crosswire. Realize current Crosswire has a fault in recording; remix, repost. Forget to save unaltered copy of remixed Crosswire for broadcast. Find our research is erronious, and redo it. Invent new curse words.
Thus will be my week, true believers.
We'll be at the con from Thursday evening to Monday morning. With any luck, we'll get off a live on-site show on Saturday night and some of the interviews we've collected to that point (though luck never seems to be with us during the attempt). Next Monday will be wrap-up and recap with all the interviews. Plan accordingly.
